ABOUT JIM HARRISON

JIM OWNED AND OPERATED A PHYSICAL THERAPY PRIVATE PRACTICE IN DOWNEY CA FOR 33 YEARS WHILE ALSO TEACHING AT USC SCHOOL OF BIOKINESIOLOGY AND PHYSICAL THERAPY.

IN 2020 HE DECIDED HE WANTED A CHANGE AND MOVED HIS CLINICAL PRACTICE TO CROSSFIT MODERN IN LONG BEACH CA.

 

WHAT TO EXPECT
 

EACH SESSION WITH JIM WILL LAST APPROXIMATELY 1 HOUR. 

AN INITIAL EVALUATION WILL BE PERFORMED DURING THE FIRST VISIT. 

A BASIC PAST MEDICAL HISTORY WILL BE DISCUSSED AS IT RELATES TO YOUR MOVEMENT DYSFUNCTION OR YOUR FITNESS GOALS.

JIM IS LIKELY TO HAVE YOU PERFORM EITHER ACTIVITIES WHICH YOU WOULD LIKE TO IMPROVE OR ACTIVITIES YOU WISH TO LEARN.

THE GOAL OF THE SESSION IS FOR THE CLIENT TO DISCOVER WHAT IS LIMITING THEIR FUNCTIONAL PERFORMANCE AND WHAT THEY CAN DO TO IMPROVE IT.  TRUE IMPROVEMENT TAKES TIME AND EFFORT ON THE PART OF THE ATHLETE/CLIENT. 

JIM'S GOAL IS TO GET TO THE ROOT OF YOUR INDIVIDUAL PROBLEM AND GET YOU STARTED ON A SPECIFIC PROGRAM TO MOST EFFIENCTLY IMPROVE YOUR SITUATION AND ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS.

FOLLOW-UP APPOINTMENTS WILL BE UP TO THE CLIENT.

FOLLOW-UP APPOINTMENTS ARE SCHEDULED BY THE CLIENT AND ARE DEPENDENT UPON HOW YOU FEEL YOU ARE IMPROVING. 

COST: $100 PER VISIT

The client pays at the time of service. Services can be paid for using cash, check, Venmo or credit/debit card

MEET JIM

James P. Harrison

Clinical Doctorate in Physical Therapy, USC

Former USC Professor | Department of Physical Therapy

Owner of Western Physical Therapy and The Downey Gym

Jim Harrison has over 30 years of physical therapy experience and over 10 years of coaching athletes of all levels. For thirteen years, Jim was an adjunct assistant professor of orthopedics in the Department of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy at the University of Southern California. His clinical practice includes treating catastrophic injuries at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center, working in the Olympic Village, serving as an Ergonomic Consultant for local businesses. 

In his spare time, he enjoys participating in anything and everything exercise-related. Recently he has taken a particular interest in CrossFit and Olympic Lifting.
